Black Sand Or Gravel

Anyone know the best place in the UK to get some black sand/gravel? I want around 10kg or so.

But is it actually black when in the water and suitable for fresh water?

Yes its black when in water. However, black paint is artificially added to the gravel to give it it's colour so after a couple of years, it will start to peel off.
