I have two male black sailfin mollies in my community tank.
I don't have any immediate plans to breed them but I was just wondering whether they would breed with female Sailfin mollies that weren't black or whether they will only breed with black sailfin mollies?

Thanks

They'll breed with any colour of molly, sailfin or not. How do you think dalmation mollies were created?

they will breed with most other type of molly and if you do breed you need to make sure u have atleast twice as many females as males so u would need atlest 4 females

They will not breed with just any other mollies but they will be more than happy to breed with most of the common aquarium mollies. Black sailfins are not a species as much as they are derived from some different wild species. Almost all of the common fish store mollies came from the same small group of mollies and will mix or match with each other. There are over 20 different wild type molly species that don't even all come from the same type of water conditions as each other. Most of the wild types will not breed with other molly species or with aquarium mollies. Dalmatians, black sailfins, balloons and several other color variations like my creamsicles are pretty much color and fin shape variations of the same mixed bag of mollies. This big group will interbreed without giving it a thought.
