I got three black mollies yesterday. The two females are sticking together while the male is on the other side of the tank. At first there was interaction between them but I have not seen them all together since i put them into the tank. They are also remaining at the top of the tank in both left and right corners and rarely come down into the main body of the tank!!

Are they just really shy fish? They are in a fully freshwater tank, and I wont be adding salt...how long will they live for because of this?

they will be shy until used to there surroundings, give it a while and they gradually loose there shyness :good:

yes give them time to settle down and then your see them acting happily again.

Its a bit strange if ya ask me...the male came out of hiding, went straight over to the female and started to dance in front of her, his dorsal fin was fully spread, he then began flicking his tail in front of her and then they lined up alongside each other and moved frantically on the spot. Then when all was done they went their seperate ways right back to hiding. The male is beginning to relax and move about a bit...but its strange that they can mate but not feel at home to go around the whole tank!!

thats stunning to watch and they do it quite often, and in time your be seeing lots of babt mollies by the sounds of it.

Haha, the mollys just dont stop messing around, talk about a high sex drive!!

I have three pregnant mollys, one pregnant sword tail (she has a double swordtail, and mated with a very nice male swordtail who has an amazing pale colour with golden stripes and a small black sword part!!), also have two female Tiger Barbs who are about to pop with eggs.

I got my 96L fry tank delivered today and I have one question.

The filter is a fry safe sponge filter powered by an air pump, how on earth do I get a circulation going in the tank to allow the heater to spread the heat around evenly? I have removed the internal juwel filter (since I understand that fry dont like things that can suck them in and kill them!!). All I have in the fry tank is the sponge filter which looks like this:

Do I have to worry about the whole circulation, will it be fine if I have the filter at one end and the heater at the other end?

With good aeration this will produce enough circulation, but I'm not on about a gentile bubble, bubble, bubble.... But a torrent of aerations, but it dose depend on the length as well, smaller the less aeration needed.
