Hi everyone,

I knew to this platform. I am also new to owning a black mollie fish and wanted to know if someone could please help me! So, about a week ago my black mollie gave birth, and this morning I wake up to find out she is pregnant AGAIN only after a week. I looked up that mollie fish don’t get pregnant until 4-6 weeks after giving birth. This is the second time she has gotten pregnant in such a short amount of time. Does anyone know if this is normal for black mollies to get pregnant this quick? I’m at lost for words. Thank you in advance!

I've never heard of any livebearer having a gap between dropping fry and when they can become gravid again. They an drop another batch of fry after four to six weeks, since they carry sperm packets and can fertilise a new batch of eggs pretty much immediately after dropping them.

I suspect you saw someone say that they can gestate between 4-6 weeks, not that it takes that long for them to become pregnant again.

So it’s normal for them to be pregnant back to back?

Yep, very normal for livebearers to be gravid constantly! :) Mollies, platies, guppies - they're well known for continuing to drop fry every month after having been anywhere near a male. They can store sperm packets for a year or more, so even removing males doesn't stop it.
