my red devil cichlid is starting to show signs of black lips. Anyone know what this is? Is this normal? He is my first Red devil and i am really pretty new to the whole world of fish. He is in a 75gal with a jack dempsey, african brown knife and pleco. They all get along good after two weeks of terror from the dempsey. Now the only time the get active is dinner time. and that is still ok. Not sure about his mouth though, can someone help?

sounds like hes just colouring up. its common for red devils and midas' to change colour when they are growing and developing.
unles of course its actual little black spots? or is it just coloured black? regulær scales?

They are just turning color, no spots or anything that looks unhealthy.

Black lips digging in gravel or fighting locking mouths.
