Eel,
The electric discharge is not noticeable by humans. I am graduating in December with my wildlife biology degree and I have taken all but 3 classes to receive my fisheries biology degree. With this said I have seen a movie of a guy doing research on the Knife fish family and he had a small portable device to measure their electrical discharge. He said that he could feel a slight tingling in a tank that was full of other African Knife fish. I for one though have never felt any kind of electricity from my own Ghost. The voltage meter he was using did register the electricity but it was very very small.

Lets see if this link of my Ghost works. Ghost
P.S. Make sure you listen to the TV in the background
lol, great white sharks on TV? what were you watching? Nice video too. I has totally inspired me to get one, I saw what looked like two red oscars swim past for a shot of stardom too, lol. thanks for that.
Well others here have said it is not a good idea to keep my oscars in with him. I was already planning to get rid of the Red Oscar because he is the aggressive one of the two. I talked to the wife AND let her read all of the peoples "PLEAS" here to not keep the ghost and oscar together....I think this convinced her that I need a 75 gallon in a few months after we leave...DAMN THE BAD LUCK !!! Anyways I have had my ghost for 3 years maybe 4 or 5 ?? but he is only 7 inches long. I first started out with him in a 30 gallon, then we moved and I moved him to a 10 gallon and was to lazy to put back up my 30 again. The stand I had for it was not very sturdy. I finally did put back up my 30 because I was tired of him not growing, then it broke and I had a NIGHTMARE !!! So I got a 55 to put him in and that is where that video was tanken. If you can make it past a few weeks to months with him alive then you have a good shot of keeping him alive for a long time. If I can give anymore help please just ask. Oh yes, I feed mine frozen blood worms, brine shrimp, every once in a while regular dry flakes, and the small to medium sized earthworm when I can get my hands on one.

Eel make sure you get a BLACK ghost knife. There are browns and other African knife fish that look similar but as far as I know ONLY BGKs are peaceful. All of the others of the group are nasty tempered boogers.
