G'day All,

I have a problem with black furry algae growing on everything all of a sudden. tank has bee going around 18 months now. Just recently however I have got an outburst of this black very sticky furry algae. Don't think my bristle nose cat fish like eating it though. Any thoughts why this could have happen clean the tank about 1 once a week. taking out about a 1/3 of the water. Occupants are as follows:

2 BN 1M 1F
5 Glowlighht Tetras
1 Cardinal Tetra (Had 6 rest seemed to have died once the black algae set in.
2 Pearl Gourmai
1 3 spotted blue Gourmai
1 Golden Gourmai
2 rescued very small clown loaches that I am trying to find a home for.

Tank size 150 litres 3 foot tank.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like BBA, had it myself after upgrading the lighting and going planted. If it is infact BBA (Like black hairs), I used a triple dose of Easylife easycarbo everyday and added amano shrimp, cleared up in no time.
