Black Emperor Tetra's

In my local LFS I spotted a new variety of fish they were selling which seemed very impressive, being only there for a supposed "limited period only"

Anyway I was wondering if anyone else has ever come across black emperor tetra's?

No, can't say I have. It could be a colour morph from the original emperor tetra; like the opaline and gold gourami are to the blue gourami. Did you ask the fish store? What did they say...?

I have Emperor Tetra's and they are great fish (I got them about 3-4 weeks ago). The Black Emperor Tetra's have darker colors than the Purple version. Even tho they are called Black Emperor's, they still have a far amount of Purple on their bodies. I don't think I have seen the Purple Emperor's yet.
