Hi All.

So somehow ive managed to get bba on my dwarf hairgrass. Ive only had it in the tank for about 3 weeks.

I was told easycarbo would get rid of it. So ive been adding a dose each day for the last 3 days.

How long will it take to get rid?? some suggested on a website it may take weeks??

Thanks,

dave

Well, it doesn't get rid of it. It stops it from growing further more likely but not if you don't fix the cause.
So you need to remove the BBA by cutting the affected plants.

3 days is not enough at all. It doesn't do magic. I some instances double the daily dose may work better, but that depends on your fish as they can get sensitive to it.

BBA is also caused by poor flow, no flow. Considering you get the BBA at the bottom, my guess is there's no adequate flow reaching your substrate.

Or- put in a pile of SAEs and stop feeding the tank. I took me 6 in a 50 gal. to get it out of my hairgrass. I had one of 4 power compact bulbs burn out and had no replacement on the shelf. It took a week to get the new one. That gave the bba all the opportunity it needed. Good luck with whatever you try.

I've generally found that the dwarf hairgrass suffers badly from lack of flow/CO2, so gets algaed up. If it's looking pretty thin as well it'll most likely be that that's the issue.

Hi.

I think i may be on to something.

After watching my tank flow from the spray bar, the hairgrass barely even moves. I think its what I have read " dead spot"

This is the reason my hairgrass is getting algae. Ive just bought a hydor nano fan /power head thing.

When it arrives, should i just point it directly at the hairgrass??

Thanks,

Dave

Just to add, I have fancy goldfish. Would the flow rate be ok as i have bought the hydor nano 900 which is the slowest flow rate they do.

Point it in the same direction as the spraybar. Depending on your tank size, you may have needed two powerheads to put under the spray bar so you get more flow.
