Well i have a jewel 120 which is 120L which is like 25UK gallons but when ever i type in the (40"x18"x12 LxHxW) it gives me a 31. somin UK gallon volume.

Can anyone help!?

Sean

It's not meant to be filled to the rim with water. The average amount of water it holds with fish and all of the necessities is about 25 gallons.

I know the calculator on the PFK website makes allowances for substrate, water displacement etc. That may give you a better idea.

The numbers are correct for 120 liters as that is 31.7 US gallons and about 26.4 UK gallons. The tank size doesn't quite add up to the gallons though. Not certain why it is off as usually you fill a tank to within an inch or less of the top. An inch in height is only about 2 gallon so that would mean ou would have to leave the wter down about 3 inches to make the gallons correct. Just doesn't add up.

lol rdd stole my thought! Your probably on a US site, therfore you're getting the US gallons, not UK...

well if you want, go to tropical fish centre and type the measurements in and it gives 31.UK gallons weird

Well, then the only explanation is that they are all high school dropouts and they fail at math. Because it's clearly not the case. :)

Maybe there is a bit of human error.

Or...

Well my 60 litre tank is about 16 US gallons, just over 13 UK gallons. So that makes your 120 litre tank about 32 US gallons, or 26 UK gallons.

Easiest way to convert is put "120 litres in UK gallons" in google! Works a treat.

From the PFK converter ;

Well don't know the actual volume for yours, but mine is 125L tall tank and works out at 29USG as I leave the water an inch or so below the lip (just above the hood)

Best not to use UK glaaons as measurement as all guides are in US gallons.
