Well, now the garage conversion is complete, I have started to stock some of the tanks, here are some terrible in bag pictures of my purchases today.

I traveled over 150miles today to get these all.

The shops, and the purcahses:

Bolton Aquatic Superstore in Bolton
2 Polypterus Delhezi
7 tiger barbs (wild)
3 Channa bleheri

A-Z Aquatics in Crewe
1 polypterus senegalus
4 glowlight rasbora
2 Nanochromis Transvestitus

Rare Aquatics in Crewe
2 Tatia Dunni
10 Wild cardinal tetra

A nice list of fish I think, and I also picked up a few other bits such as food, silicone and an air filter.

here are the pictures: (click for full sized, very blurry and large as taken on phones camera and not resized)

Tatia Dunni (try saying that without sounding like a brummie)

Wow, quite a shopping list!

Your Nanochromis pair look in great colour, considering the travel and associated stress, fingers crossed they spend more time playing nicely together than having divorces!

Yeah they were a little ashed out even the pics compared to how they were in the shop, I have read they can squabble a bit (like a true couple, I suppose :sly: )

They have gone into hiding, and so did the Tatia dunni, everything else is out and about and feeding well, I watched the food float round the to the T.dunni and they wolfed down the food which is great to see as well, I need to wait until they are settled in and see if I have apair. PCF says they havent been bred in captivity but if I have a pair I think I may give it a go. I have a feel they are both female though :(

EDIT:

oh! and also the glow lights are to join the harlequins and the other glow light rasbora I already had from a rescue

Those catfish are incredible! They are actually called Tatia and are an awesome family of fish that area of the country is so blessed with good fish shops its not fair lol I recently took a trip from Hull to Pier Aquatics in Wigan and that was incredible but I wish I could have done the full tour lol :D

Very jealous of the Tatia lol how active are they?

Thanks for the comments, Titia LMAO! that was a typo I'll sort it out now, there are a lot of boring LFS up here too and I have to travel and hour or more to get to decent ones that stock what I want at a good price.

The Tatia dunni arent active in my tank yet, but the owner of Rare Aquatics said they have been very active at lights-out and at feeding time. They are featured in this weeks PFK magazine (its where I saw the advert for the shop and later the review for the fish) If you're in plecs, catfish and dwarf cichlids its worth a visit with a creditcard or a lot of cash. if there is something you're after they will try and source it for you too :)

As for the garage conversion, thanks!, Im pretty happy with it, never done any construction work before so it was a massive and costly (lol) learning experience. BUT its working well for my fish, most the tanks dont have heaters now and maintain a good temp.

hope I can get some more fry on the way, as I ahve a few breeding pairs of different fish :)

wow an impressive list . love the Nanochromis Transvestitus the most . lovely fish . we never see the likes of those round these parts. id love to have that kind of variety available locally .

I think its all about looking harder. Ive been to a lot of the shops in the northwest well those that are worth going to, and most dont seem to have a lot in stock, but there are a few gems.

I tend to try and build relationships up with the staff and owners, this means visiting often and talking fish with them, which is always good. But I have a few shops that will now order fish for me if they can get them.

Once the delhezi and senegalus have grown Im going to try and get Pimelodus ornatus I had one in the passed but it died :(
