So I recently got this idea about my first paludarium I am planning to build once I graduate high school.

It will be a river paludarium with only south american species of both fish and land living animals like cardinal tetras and dart frogs.

What will make this one different though is that I was thinking that maybe just maybe I could try constructing small cave systems myself for fish to travel through or hide in such as for shy fish like corydoras catfish.

I have also observed that rivers are not always frequently completely open like the Rio negro because especially in dense rainforests these can be in the form of narrow creeks that fish pass through so I feel it would be cool to make these passages especially if I can recreate that natural muddy look to it with a sandy bottom.

I always use roibos tea bags to add tannins to my current aquarium of 145 liters so it's a no brainer I will use it in my paludarium as well to recreate that blackwater look to it.

following, I wanna see how this project goes
