have you looked on mongabay.com this site really helped me out with ideas on a black water biotope for my apistogramma

another good site is fishbase.org
you can narrow the search down and have your biotope as specific as you want, it lists all of the fish found in any given area, and has a bit of info on each fish too. the hardest part is making your mind up what you want, and being able to find someone that can stock them!
