I'm new to Aquariums and filters and I'm so lost.

I have a Marineland Biowheel 350 on my 46g and planned 2 on the 75g we are getting in 2 weeks...is that overkill?

Do I even need to use the carbon cartridges that come with it and need to be replaced all the time or is there something else I should do?

I thought the carbon would deplete after so long and have to be replaced but it seems like a lot of people don't use carbon at all. Should I just use a bulk filter pad and cut it to size when it needs to be replaced..{which wouldn't be often if I'm reading right/ rinse with old water when needed}..like this one from petco...

and would the bio-wheels be enough to hold bacteria or should i add ceramic rings like this?

Hope I was clear...I'm a little flustered.

Thanks for the help

I was going to say, you can use 1 marineland emporer 400 for a 75g. It works outstanding. I have 1 on my 75g and that tank is clean clean clean. But you can never have too much filtration, so if two of your other filters is what you want then i say go for it :)
