Hi iam having trouble finding info on bio rings. Iam not sure if i need to change the rings every three months or so. ive read that i dont need to change them at all is this true? Can you please help! :good:

There's no need to change the bio rings every 3 months.
Every few weeks, rinse the ceramic rings with water from your aquarium. Do the same thing with your sponge.

Do not rinse it with your tap water, only use water from your fish tank :)

Hi and welcome. Sorry to disagree with a fellow member but......I will anyway :shifty:

Providing you use a fine, first stage, mechanical filter media (ie white woolen media) then your ceramic rings (AKA. noodles) need very little maintanence.

I shake mine in old tank water about once every 6 months or so and even then not the same time as I do the foam media. I'm still using some of the noodles from when I first started 5 years ago!

Many filter manufacturers suggest you do all sorts of regular replacements. Ignor this as it is purely a money grabbing ploy on their part!

Finally.........Remember, a sparkling clean filter is no use to man or beast!
