bio balls/live rock

i saw someone ask the question but I do not remember where. so I never saw the response IN my mudd filter the water comes in and goes over the bio balls. then on to the main chamber where the macro algae is. the it spills over to were the pump is. where is spills over there is small space that the directions says for "media" should I put anything there? bio balls? i was thinking about stacking the whole section up with live rock that is 1-4 inch size pieces. is this a good idea?

Bioballs and live rocks have the same purpose, biological filtration.

that was me I was asking wich one would be a better biological media to put in a sump my originall idea was to crush live rock into small chanks the size of a quarter. I have decided to use these bio balls below.

yes it was you that asked the question. I just wasnt sure if anyone gave you a reason to use one over the other. right now I have bio-balls two different sizes in two different places in my mudd sump. just didnt know if the quarter sized live rock would be better.. guess not. thanks though
