At the moment I have myself a Rena Panorama 250 (340l) I have a bunch of l134 leapord frog Peckolita's, 4 colombian tetras, 5 red eye tetras, 7 Denisoni Barbs 1 pearl gourami female a bunch of corys and a couple of loachs.

Now the fun part.

After deciding the layout is very shoddy, and with christmas coming up, I decided I am going to rehome my colombians, red eyes, some corys and 2 small zebra loach and possibly get some discus.

Im thinking on the lines of rather heavily planting the tank with some tall plants along the back, a selecetion of rocky piles along the centre of the tank in the middle leading back diagonal into each corner with little built up areas.

Along with this I have 3 tall root like pieces of bogwood which ill be placing here and there.

Now my question is, what is everyones perogative in terms of stocking discus with my denasoni's and possibly one female pearl gourami.

Im a bit dubios about the gourami but as far as Im aware, the discus should be fairly fine with the placid l134's and denasoni's as I have seen many people with them together.

Am I right, and could anyone shed any light onto my thoughts?

I was planning on about 6 discus all around the 3-4" mark with tails included :)

Thanks for any help in advance.

I guess it really depends on if your barbs can stand the ~86 degree temperature discus prefer, and if the barbs are at all nippy, which could cause a lot of stress to the discus, being very sensitive.

26 to 28 more then enough for domesticated discus..

Barbs gangs are not only fine. They are perfact for large discus setups.. Just make sure discus are nice and big.. My old discus and long fin angels setup, had 30 tiger barbs as schooling fish.. To be honest barbs get bullied by other two rather then vice versa..
