My O despises Melafix. He'll go into huge pouting mode if I even put in a half dose.

However I have seen this behavior from an O before my previous O took a chunk out of a 5" plec when the O was about 9 inches in length. Killed the pleco pretty easily then left it on the bottom of my tank.

This same fish later commited hary cary by attacking it's own reflection so vigrously that it would ram the glass swim out of the water smashing into the hoodlight. He took himself out in about 15 mins while I was in the shower one weekend morning. It was the wife's fish so she wasn't thrilled with the outcome.
Wound up getting her a much larger tank and let her pick out a new O

Eye the new O is now 1.5 years old and doing well.

pleco did not make it he was half eaten when the O finally spit him out..

maby u should stop feeding the O for a few days to let it fully digest its plec

I have fed him since this happen. Today will be the first time in like 3 to 4 days... No more tank mates for him..

Oscars are notorious for trying to eat plecs, part of their natural wild diet includes small Loricarids and Corydoras and i guess they just arent great at sizing up their food.

When a friend of mines oscar tried to eat a small golden nugget plec we had to do like Tolak said and remove the plec manually, we snipped the plecs fins off with poultery sissors (it was already dead!) and then slowly pulled it back out of the oscars mouth by its tail, the spines were then removed from the oscars mouth with long nose tweezers.
