i have a large ciclid. i think it is a female previous owner said it was. anyway it seems lonley and i would like it to breed . if i put the same speces of fish 1/4 the size would they fight. can u put lead in the tank. how would u breed them.

It really does depend on the soecies Sean, cichlids vary in temperament. If you don't know the species, you can post some pictures and we will try to identify it. :)

she is like this but she only has one eye and is a bit bigger than my hand cichlid2.jpgcichlid.jpg

That looks like a severum to me, they're generally one of the more peacful cichlids, I couldn't say for certain whether they would get along though.
You could try them and if he is aggressive you could seperate them until the small one grows a bit

It can be very difficult to put adult cichlids together, or even adding a smaller one with larger ones. It can lead to bullying and stress which can kill a small fish quite quickly. How did the fish loose its eye? sometimes a cichlid that has been bullied previously can suddenly turn aggressive against others (I do have a little experience with trying to get cichlids to get along). Before you even attempt it, make sure you have a spare tank available just in case you need to separate them, or a good solid tank divider.

she lost an eye to an infection that the other owner had she also lost her mate to the infection

Has she been quarantined well enough for said condition?

Anyways, i think you'll have better luck pairing it off with another of the same size. Remove her first, rearrange some stuff inside, introduce the new one then reintroduce her

yea she has been alone since it lost its mate and that was ages ago

sadly the heater exploded and it died of cold and i realised to late
