Hiya,

one of my Neon Tetras has suddenly gone all fat, eyes look poppy too and his colours have all faded.

His scales aren't flary or anything like that so I don't think it could be dropsy.

I have noticed that all along the underside of his belly there are red dots.

Help please, i've never seen anything like this and can't find it in the book!

He's in bad shape and not going to make it can you issolate him.
If the red stripe looks bleached out it can point to ntd, so want to take a look at your water stats first in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
He also has septicemia.
Check the red stripe for a black linning around it, is there any lumps on the belly that go to a point.

No lumps on his belly, no black on his red stripe either.

i can't isolate him because I haven't got a spare tank. If you say that he's not going to make it I think i might have to euthanise him to put him out of his misery :-(

Thanks,

Red spots on skin can be caused by:
Regarding the small red dot, small pinprick like haemorrhages (called petechiae) can be due to a local lesion, a generalised septicaemia or toxaemia caused by acute viral and bacterial infections.
