just been to my lfs and they are selling a 20L tank i think its about 30cm square.... it will fit perfectly in our lounge. just wondered if i could keep a single male betta in this, or is it too small even for that? also wanted to try and breed crs shrimp or cherry shrimp in it if poss! i just visioned it with loads of moss and plants, small piece of bogwood and stocked with betta and shrimp and maybe a snail or 2.... great looking tank curved corners, glass cover and a clip on lamp. it comes with an internal filter so just needs heater and was only £39.99. been looking on web and i think its an arcadia arc 20L but not 100% as i cant remember the name but looks the same etc. i know its small but i wanted to try shrimp breeding and fancied a betta as 1 wont go in my larger set up. if not a betta maybe a few tetras or rasboras or something. feel free to advise on small fish :good: also what size heater would go in such a small tank? have seen someone selling on here a 10w heater.....

Betta would be perfect in there-just over 5 gall US. Whether they will mix with adult shrimp depends on their temperament, but they'd be fairly likely to eat babies, so breeding might not be doable.

thanks ellena, just wanted to make sure the betta will be ok.... i guess if he ate a few shrimp then i wouldnt mind but if its heavily planted would he find them all? i would keep him well fed.....

It's more about his personality and territory issues, bettas don't often attack through hunger or to eat, they do it to defend their territory.

Snail part you could have one nerite limit, it is too small for an adult apple snail. You could keep some pest snails and assassins aswell if you wished.

Adult Cherry shrimp would work, as would Ghost shrimp. Very small species or babies may get muched though. Also, adding the shrimp before the betta may be a good idea as they will basically be part of the decor for him.Whereas if he sees you adding them after him, he may think you are feeding him and munch on them!
