Big Al's Online

I did price comparisons and found that If I buy from Big Al's Online instead of a LFS I will save $15.00 US even after the shipping and handling. I know there are some online stores that aren't too reliable and I am always careful about that. Can anyone tell me if this is a reliable site to order from? Thanks.

Well I've heard of them so I think it's pretty popular but I'm not sure about reliable...sorry.

I've placed several orders through Big Al's and I know from several fish boards other that have as well. Every time I ordered I got my stuff within a week without a problem. I have no problem going to Big Al's when I need supplies, and will continue to shop there. I also use Dr. Foster and Smith, though I find their prices aren't the best, I do trust them as well.

Big Als is the best! IME they are very reliable. I saved loads with them over Petco even with shipping like you said. They ship quick and everything arrived in order. They even included some floating glass thingy that I don't really know what to do with, but it was a good gesture.

Big Als has never done me wrong, so no worries bud. I just ordered 3 power clear 300 filters and they all came perfect!

I have also used Big Al's and can recommend it. My products did not arrive for a few weeks, but I've heard that the Canadian site does not ship as promptly as the American one. (Or maybe it's just Canada Post )

Big Al's came through for me! I saved $50.00 simply by placing an order with Big Al's instead of paying local prices. I highly recommend them!

Ordered from them once, had a problem, not with Big Al's, but with my apartment complex. Someone signed for the package which arrived promptly via UPS but then it was nowhere to be found when i went to pick it up that afternoon. I talked to the nice people at Big Al's, they faxed a copy of my invoice to my apartment complex, they took the loss out of my rent. I would order from them again if i could trust my frelling shipping address arrgh!

My opinion and experience: They're reliable, and inexpensive, but can be slow to get a shipment out the door.

edit: and the sales people seem to actually know what they're talking about.

Hmmm, not sure why everyone is saying slow out the door. I live in washington and whenever I track the shipment it's coming from NY... clear across the US... usually arrives to me in 3-7 days... is that too long?

I duno.... takes that long for everything I order on ebay too, haha

they are quite reliable, i buy all my fish at big als, so the online store shouldn't be much worse

Big al's is great! I highly recommend them. I have saved a ton of money over buying at the nearest Petsmart. Only problem I had with Big Al's is that my last order they sent me some tubes for a Rena XP filter instead of my Eclipse Explorer II tank, and after calling them they shipped me my tank 2nd Day Air. Whoever filled my order got the part numbers mixed up, the sales guy said (8156 vs. 5156).
