hi,

im asking for a friend, they would like to know if they can keep an oscar, black ghost knife fish and long nose elephant fish together?

They already have an oscar which is about 5 inches, they also have 3 golden barbs and a 10 inch common plec.

Your friend must have a huuuge tank for those. A black ghost knife fish needs a tank of at least 6 foot long and 2 foot wide if I remember rightly because of their potential size. 1 Oscar alone needs at least 55 gallons but preferably 75 gallons. 2 oscars would need something like 100-125 gallons. Not too sure but if golden barbs are like all other barbs I know of then they are better in groups of 5+. Someone else may want to give you a definite answer on that though

Eventually to house those three, plus what your friend has, an aquarium of 6x2x1.5 would be needed. Other fish could be added, a tank this size would give lots of swimming room to some potentially large fish.

IMO The elephant nose shouldn't be kept with an oscar. Oscars are too boisterous and are quite the violent eaters. The elephant nose would probably be out competed for food, as they're kinda timid and finicky about eating.
