Bga Headache X2

To be honest with water changing your taking out nitrate which causes the BGA I'd keep dosing and manually remove as much as you can, you dont need to do loads of water changes as the nitrates and phosphates will build up.

Thanks, my API liquid test kit is only really useful for ammonia and nitrite, nitrate and PH are hard to read on the chart. Do you recommend a test kit for PH and Nitrate?

I also googled and saw a test kit for Iron, is this needed?

so far so good with the BGA!

I cant recommend any kits mate as I generally look to the plants or algae signs for deficiencies or a lacking of something.

I was just wondering, but you mentioned your nitrAte levels are 40-100ppm? Then how could this be the cause of BGA?

They're up that high now Snazy and he''s winning the battle. :S

All algae is caused by ammonia, the ammonia is caused by different things, low nitrates/phosphates = tissue break down, dirty substrate, anything but rather than say its ammonia caused by X we just get straight to X.
