I have a juwel rio 180 with standard lights and wondered if theres any bulbs available(to put in the standard light fittings) that would make my plants a bit healthier. I dont have C02 and dont use ferts. Im only growing java fern, anubius, crypts ,a moss ball and a bit of vallis which all seem ok other than many scabby bits on the java fern and the vallis could be a bit greener.
I dont really fancy sticking extra lights in as I've heard the centre brace in the juwel 180 can crack through doing so(the extra heat I suppose). The standard light unit gives about 1 1/3 watts per gallon(us) which i appreciate is rather low.
Ive seen arcadia bulbs 'original freshwater' and 'original tropical' which say they will help plants and was wondering if a pair of either or one of each may make my plants better!!! They are the same wattage as the standard juwels but if they have a more suitable coverage of the light spectrum for plants wouldn't they be better??
Any advice much appreciated.(even if its "just stick more lights in dumb*ss")
cheers Johnny

The tank in question!!

I would change all your lamps to the arcadia freshwater lamps. Much better spectrum :good:
Can reccomend them myself :)
