This was posted at a shopping board where I work. it holds only 6 cups of water. I posted that I think that's way too small but mentioned I would post here and see what the experts say about it. :p

Well, I'm definitely no expert but I feel extremely sorry for any poor betta that gets put into one of those. "The tank is a littler bigger than the cup you buy them in" (quoted straight from the site) ==> I don't know how big the cups they've seen bettas in, but I really hope they're bigger than the ones they're sold in over here!! (I don't know inches - assuming measurements are in inches).

What an unprofessional site (sorry, but I had to say it), hopefully they won't sell many (IMO)!!

Unfortunately at least one person at the shopping board has already been instructed by her dh or boyfriend or something to order 2 of them. I'm going to post a betta site-any good ones that are easy to understand?

Someone started a thread about an item being sold on ebay or aquabid just like that. It's horrible, way too small. I pity the fish that the owner sticks in there. I think it's like half a liter of water or something along those lines. What do you mean by a betta site easy to understand?? Do you mean on how to take care of bettas and the like?

Edited to add:
It says the betta in the picture is 3 years. Sure does look like the betta in the picture is a cut out and paste of a picture. :grr:

What does dh stand for? Dead husband? Dear hubby? Destitute homeowner?:p

I can't beleive they want $20 to buy one of those things (marked down from 30), you could nail a dixie cup to the wall and have a better home than that :grr:

I mean a site that I can post in that thread that would be helpful to someone who is not really a fishhead like us and is not interested in keeping fish enough to read sites like this one. I think bettas are kept by people who would never think of having any other type of tropical fish.

I have other fish :dunno: I could care less about my bettas -_- But it's not like I completely ignore their water quality or their health :p

I should clarify. I think a lot of people who would never keep a tank of tropical fish would keep a betta just because they are so ornamental and supposedly easy to keep.

The thread at the shopping board is driving me crazy. One person said bettas are lazy fish and don't want much space. Another said her vet told her that a betta's natural habitat is a mud puddle.

Could you post a link to this thread?... I'd love to give them a piece of my mind.

I would also like to see the thread. It seems they deleted your signing Cheese.
This spiel disgusts me:
For the ones that think this is too small for a betta.Betta fish live in small area. they do no need a lot of space. they are happier in smaller space and live longer. If the tank is to big it is harder for them to swim too the top to get the air they need. This holds approx. the same amount of water or more than the table top betta tanks you buy in the store. this was made to give them a little more room. The tank is bigger than it looks in the picture.

Thy deleted my comment too, so I reposted it. :D

And I shall continue to do so.

Over and over again.....
