Doh! there are enough spawning mishap threads in this forum to tell you that keeping males and females together is a BAD idea.

thanks for all your advice , the fish came from different local shops, it would be hard to tell which came from where , ive thought of tank dividers , but the tank is an awkward shape, being square, and i cant divide it into six, i have however managed to get hold of one little tank, and filter, so off to get a heater tomoro, if anyone wants the others and lives near me wallasey, they can have them

aww such a shame im all the way down here!! id take one of your hands :(

shame indeed :(

good luck i hope you find a way. what about advertising in a local shop im sure you would have people snap them up?

Males can not ever be kept with males. Males can not be ever kept with females. Females can sometimes be kept with a large group of only females. One male and one female may only meet to breed under specific conditions, or else they will kill each other.

I have had a particular female that was fine in the girls comunity tank. Seperated and conditioned her, went to spawn her with a particular male and she tried to rip him to bits the second she was able. Same female later nicely spawned with a different male.

again to get the point across.
