Hi all. Am interested in keeping Bettas in our new tank. It will purely be a Betta tank with no other fish unless you more knowledgeable can suggest some good tank mates.
I was talking to the guy at our lfs and he said that the male will build a bubble nest when he is ready to breed and that he and a female will dance and spawn.

Just wondered on average, how many times this would happen before we could actually expect fry and also how long it would actually take for a pair to adjust to each other in order to breed?

We were hoping to put one male in a tank with about 5 females.
TIA.

Yeah... I wouldn't advise doing that since I have had males who will tear fins from the female and vice versa it matters all on the betta and males also make bubbles nests to show how happy they are

There are a few posts about breeding and how it is done and it matters if the female is full of eggs or not

Please don't add male and female to the same tank.." yes it may work in some cases but someone will die.
Also breeding will only take place when the pair are ready and conditioned and slowly introduced to each other. Alot of research is needed

As said males need to be kept singlely

You could have a group of females but not with a male
