Hi everyone, unfortunately King Arthur passed yesterday and had a small funeral for him in the backyard. He held on for as long as he could poor little guy. Its good to have a bit of closure.
While King Arthur is dearly missed, I have been considering getting a new betta and was just wondering what a shop bought betta life span is? And what would be the best way to look after it. (It may be a bit soon after King Arthurs passing but strangely enough having one keeps me company in my room :) )
All I did with King Arthur was clean his bowl once a week and fed him daily (unless he was angry at me for leaving it so late to feed him...then he wouldnt eat till the next morning, he had such personality  ). Is there anything else I should be doing? Any help would be great :D

Awww, I'm sorry for your loss. :(
May King Arthur RIP<3
Hmm, I think they prolly live about a few years. ;)
Looks like you did a good job with him; I do the same. Feed daily, clean once a week. :)

If they are healthy and well kept you should get 5 years easily from a Betta.

I'm sorry about King Arthur. :( I always thought betta life span was 2-3 years, but it probably varies a lot.

life expectancy differs a lot in bettas but 2-3 years seems to be pretty average with 4-5 being about max. Lots of things influence that lifespan, of course, water quality, genetics, food, temperature. Keep in mind that most male bettas from pet shops are already a year or more - the females i see coming in around here are ridiculously tiny so i think they may be younger. You said he was with you for two years, no? so that puts him at probably 3-3.5 years, not a bad age for a petshop guy at all.
