Well, I fell in love with a Crowntail Betta at the LFS yesterday, so I'm off to grab a "Bookshelf aquarium" kit (6.5G) and a bit of decor. My first tank is brackish, and I have a crazy idea that perhaps Bumblebee Gobies might be decent tankmates with Bettas. Neale seems to agree, at least from a Goby's perspective. They're bottom dwellers, have small fins, and don't share the colors of a betta. However, they are territorial and there are conflicting reports of them as fin nippers.
Unless I get strong negative feedback, I'll attempt it, as I have a brackish tank I can relocate the gobies to if there's a problem. I did read some suggestions that Bettas are less likely to be aggressive with tankmates if added at the same time though, any truth to that?
