bettas and airation???

ive been told mixed things about this...

ive got my betta in a 5 gallon tank. and no filter. but i recently put an airator in it. (just a pump with a hose and some holes on the side) to make bubbles.

i thought it would be good to put a bit of air in the water and to stimulate to surface as there is no other movement....

is this all ok? will be betta get hurt from the bubbles?

They won't hurt him, just watch the way he acts so you can tell whether he likes them or not
