Would my betta mix with platies?

Any ideas?

cheers :)

Mix as in live together? Or mix as in breed? If live together, then I don't see a problem, Platy's are very calm, non aggressive fish...but of course there are always exceptions to the rules, Lol. If you're talking breeding them, then not a chance, Bettas and Platys don't breed together. (I'm sure you're talking living together though, hehe).

Bettas can be tricky in community tanks at times - mine gets along fine with the swordtails, but I've heard horror stories about Mollies ripping a betta's fins to shreds in a community tank. I've also heard horror stories about bettas going after other community fish (usually guppies or other small, long-fin fish). They usually go fine in a community setting with non-nippers, though. So the best advice is observation, observation, observation.

I have had my Betta living in a 5.5 gallon tank with 3 platies for a year now and all the fish seem to be doing quite well!

I like platies....i say go for it!
