Yesterday, my sister was changing her bettas water. She treated it correctly and she let it sit and did everything right. Then today he laid at the bottom and his fins are clamped tightly. I moved him from his bowl to a 5.5 gallon US tank with a filter (its cycled) and with some plants. Please help! i have a fungus clear from jungle that stops clamped fins but im holdin off that, and my sister says she is getting meds which ill list in a min.

she cant find the meds, i added salt and the tank temp is 78 F

I got some pics:

How are your water stats looking (Ammonia, nitrite, ntirate, and pH)? Is she adding anything to the water?

Since the problems began with a water change, i would recomend doing another water change to remove anything potientially harmful that is in there.

Also, adding soem aquarium salt can help. And i do agree, hold off of the fungus med. Clamping fins is a very vauge symptom, and in my experience, it is not the best med avalabie.

well i put him in a new tank last night and put in salt. todays he is moving around, eating and his fins arent clamped, he is a little bent over though. the stats were all fine i checked so thats ok (in the new tank)

It sounds like he is on the path to recovery, which is good. KEep his water very clean, and also keep him on a healthy diet. Be sure to watch out for any signs of illness because when fish are stressed they are more likely to become ill.

Good luck!

Thanks! i fed him blood worms and some betta pellets and now im going with my sis to the lfs to get stress coat

-he also just built a bubble nest (small) and he isnt breathing heavily

How long have you had him.

Did anything get in the water, or he could have a bacterial infection.
Is the fish shaking.
Fin clamping/shaking
Possible early sign of stress or disease.

I honestly wouldn't be too worried. The symptoms started after a water change, then got better once he was put in different water. It sounds like something got in the tank.

Keep an eye on him for signs of illness, and he should be fine.

I agree with tttnjfttt, something got into the water you left, been using and chemicals near the water.

my sister says he was like it before the water change and she says nothing got in, and hes still a little hunched over

You mean laying to one side on the bottom of the tank.

I would go in with a bacterial med if he's on his own.
