Hello, I don't know how this works so correct me if I post in the wrong place, my betta fishes won't eat anything but pellets, I bought blood worms and bbs (froze the bbs in an icecube maker) and my bettas won't eat any of them, how do I get them to eat them? They only eat pellets

This is weird... Usually its the other way around because they want them to eat the pellets and not keep eating the frozen foods cause they can be expensive.... You could try dropping the other foods in with the pellets during feeding time and he may grab one. Once he does I think he'll like it. Especially the brine shrimp. Blood worms are more used as a treat because they're not the nutritional for them... They just taste good.

Bloodworms are excellent nutrition - high in protein. I don't know how the often repeated lore about them being poor food comes from, but it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. I've used bloodworm to condition breeders, something I can't do with any of the prepared pellet/flake food. The closest I get to success with prepared foods is with bug bites - black soldier fly based food, not unlike bloodworms for insect eaters.

If anything, bloodworms are used as a supplement because they are too rich. I bred a lot of fish using bloodworms 4-5 times per week, until I developed an allergy to them and stopped using them.

My niece has a Betta like yours - it won't recognize freeze dried bloodworms as food. It's clearly had nothing but pellets all its life, and she has given up trying to improve its diet. He is healthy, and what can you do? There are people who think McDonald's is as good as food gets, and maybe they get reincarnated as Bettas.

I've always heard to use brine shrimp instead because blood worms are not the best for fish... Hmm

When I say "not the best", I do not mean they are not healthy and can't be used but I have heard they just aren't as good as brine shrimp

I had a Betta that would only eat pellets. She would only eat pellets that were put near her as well. I was never able to change that behavior, though I would suggest you try and change the behavior because straight pellets are not very good in my opinion. In my case the betta died of a tumour after 2.5 years.
