My bettas fins seem to be shrivelling around the edges. It doesn't look like any fin rot I have ever seen... and I am wondering if maybe they are just like that... or if it is a result of the "medical bath" my son gave him. (For anyone who didn't read or does not remember the story: my son poured an entire bottle of ich medicide + an entire brand new unopened bottle of pimafix into the 5 gallon betta tank.... I'm pretty sure he died and came back to life.) Well that was several months ago... and I don't know if it would have effected him permanently?

Here is a picture. Not a very good one......
Do you think adding a little aquarium salt, after a good water change, will help?

Some bettas bite their own fins he could be doing that.
Keep the water pristine & keep an eye on it

Its been like that for a while. A long while. And he acts dine. Eats swims around. Doesn't seem sick at all.
And its not just his tail fin. Its all of them.

I've been told that if a betta is kept in hard water, sometimes their fins will curl at the ends.  Apparently it's a lot more common in crowntails, which is what I noticed it in, but it can probably happen in veils too

Hmm.... well that would make since considering our water is pretty hard. :/
Does it harm the fish at all?

The particular article I read on it said that there didn't seem to be any harmful effects other than the tail "shriveling". If it makes you feel any better my crowntail that has a slightly shriveled tail is almost 4 :)
I can't find the exact web page I read but this one is very similar, probably the same author or taken from the same care sheet:

http://velvetdragon.com/bettas/caresheet.html

It says: "A high pH or hard water will cause fins to curl, particularly in crowntails, which are particularly sensitive"

Fin curling is usually an issue with the hard water, though not always.

Also note, please do not use the pima/ mela/ betta fix on bettas or other anabantids. It is a type of oil that coats thier labrynth organ and causes breathing issues. I do not think it is the issue you have with the fins.

What is his water parameters? How often do you do your water changes?
