Betta With Pleco

not unless you have a massive tank for your betta

common pleco's get huge, and most people don't have a tank actually big enough for them.

how big is the betta's tank?

it's not always necessary to have something to "eat algae" the type of algae that grows in a tank is often not the type the fish will eat. and even if it is, there isn't enough of it to completely provide for them, you'll have to feed algae wafers, or vegetables also.

if you just like the algae eater thing, you could try ottocinclus. but they can be tough to keep alive, especially in a small tank.

if you're looking for a "bottom feeder" you could try pygmy cories (only get to 1"), shrimp, snails.

Depends on your tank. If you have a huge tank that can hold a fish that can hold a pleco that grows to be 16 inches (I believe that's the correct number...) then yes. However if you want a pleco for a smaller tank there are Clown Plecos, Bristlenose Plecos, and Bulldog Plecos which stay small. I have a clown pleco and he's shy but does like to go after algae buildups, but I also supplement him with blanched vegetables and algae wafers.

my tank is only 1.5 gals.

Sorry, I'm afraid your tank is too small for even a small pleco.. :( A betta and (maybe?) shrimp could possibly do well in your 1.5 gallon. You could throw a snail in there, as long as your betta isn't terrorizing it it's a good accompaniment for a betta.

That tank is definitely too small for a betta. 3 gal is quoted as the bare minimum. And 5gal is a good size (not oversized) for a betta.
Do you have a filter and heater in the tank? If not then you shouldn't definitely get both to keep him in good health.

If you tell us where you live..Uk, USA etc etc then we'll be able to point you in the direction of some cheap and more suitable tanks for him if you want?

Your tub isn't big enough for a betta. It is definitely not big enough for a plec , common plecs need 75 gals+ . Even the smallest species really require 10- 15 gallons+
