Betta With Other Fish?

I plan on mixing a betta fish with neon tetra in my aquarium, however would it be better to purchase the betta first or the tetra. Im curious to know will the betta become territorial over the weeks building up to me purchasing my neon tetra, or should i reverse the situation and buy the betta fish in a couple weeks and get the tetra first.

I wouldn't mix a betta with neons there nippy and colourful which the betta will go for

I've never had neons in with betta but have read many reports of there being problems with fin nipping
