Hiya all

I have a problem in one of my tanks and need to move the fish around for a while. Can you look at my stocking (in my sig) and let me know if any of the fish are suitable to go in with my (very placid) betta for a few weeks?

Many Thanks

the corys would be ok but you need to have atleast 4 of each type of cory. tetras and cherry barbs need to be kept in groups of atleast 4.

The cories and the single lampeye are the only fish suitable. The others are all too large, active/boisterous, nippy or temp incompatible (the minnows in terms of temp they are a coldwater species).

You also need to up the numbers of all the following fish as they really need to be in much bigger groups

2 Cherry Barb
1 Xray Tetra
3 Ghost cats
4 mountain cloud minnow
4 Black neon tetra
2 forktail rainbow fish
1 Normans Lampeyes

This makes sense..... I agree.

They have all been in larger groups but sadly lost some over the past couple of years. I can't add to them right now as I would be massively overstocked and am already a tank down. They appear to be happy and healthy though and all the ones listed above often shoal together in a large group.

I agree with what has been said in terms of what can be added to the bettas tank and also the numbers being upped. Only to add though the lampeye being a loner would probably gain comfort from the other fish (as it is a shoaling fish) and may stress out immensely if by itself with the betta, just food for thought.

It say's in your sig you have an empty 64L fish box, you could technically move all the smaller fish I mentioned to this if you filter and maintain it very well, while you do whatever it is that needs doing to your other tank, and stick the cories with the betta.

Honestly, is there some sort of automatic 'get more of whatever, they need to be in groups of 6+' button I've missed? If you were buying a new set of said fish, then the more the merrier, but if you have an existing smaller group, or even a lone individual, then adding more has little point.

Thats the tank I have problems with at the moment and have moved the fish out if it into the 125l community. Although they don't look hugely crowded its probably "a bit" overstocked for anything more than a week!
