I have a 13 l tank with 1 betta but want something to add that is a bottom feeder, or some sort of clean up critter. Tank is heated but not filtered, although i do water changes regularly. Was looking at getting some sort of shrimp but would it survive in these conditions? Any ideas for suitable tank mate greatly appreciated.

No skrimp i know of.. Tried cherry skrimps with bettas, they always get eaten..

Chances are i am totally wrong..

Be well

Amanos can be kept. So long as you feed them algae wafers and zuccini. They can kill your betta. But hey. Bettas cant eat them since they are a bit fast. Just make sure it is an amano not a macrobrachium

A small tank like that is going to make it quite cramped for the betta and shrimp together. I've arranged a 25l tank for my betta and cherry shrimp; it's currently cycling. I planted it with a lot of hidey holes for the shrimp, it's heated and filtered. I think it's important for the shrimp to have room to get away from the betta and places to hide, and chances are in a small tank it's pretty likely they are going to be a bit stressed about the nearby predator! A larger shrimp is less likely to be a victim, but as Derp mentioned they can also damage or kill your betta, and nobody wants that. Shrimp need clean water so a lack of filter might cause a problem there too. So the answer is you can, but it's probably going to make the shrimp unhappy or risk your betta being injured.

shrimps and bettas are hit and miss honestly. If u have a ghost shrimp, maybe it migh work but cherry shrimp are too small and usually get eaten. My tank mates is an otto
