Yes there usually are, ill try nitrates gain later, to see if i hadnt checked too soon.

Hey Forest, believe that jasmine is going through a fish in cycle.

Hey Jasmine, Nitrates are not as harmful as ammonia and nitrites, but a good indicator at certain points that the cycle is working. It may be over zealous but I would test before a water change and perhaps after (so you can track ammonia, nitrites and nitrates etc) and ensure after water quality good.

Just did another water test of nitrATES and the colour had a tinge of purple to it, so i'd say its 5.
Yes forest i do have a betta in their.

Ahhhh just checking you had a source of ammonia.

Well at least you know the cycle is working, best of luck with it.

Thankyou.
I take it the tanks fully cycled when you keep testing and theres no sign of ammonia and nitrITE?
Also when it is cycled do i still have to do water chnages daily?

Yes you will know when it's cycled when the ammonia and nitrites stay at 0.

Once your tank is cycled depending on the size you should do about 25% water change once a week.

You need to start what is called a qualifying week when you start seeing ammonia and nitrites at 0. This is a whole week where you will not see either (at least that is what someone told me ;)) You need to have couple days running at least of 0 for both, as one day everything clear, the next mini spike. :)
