Is a four (UK) Gallon Hex tank enough for a male betta? It is fitted with a filter and heater appropriate fcor its size.

Yes, Minimum is 2G I think, and If its UK Gallon that will make the tank volume even bigger!. So your Betta would love that tank
 
yes this makes it about 18L if im correct, so perfect.

I am on the look out for a similar CT male so they can betta breed The same kinda stock. Similarily, does anyone know a live food that bettas prefer and is easy to culture?

Initially you can use microworm, crushed betta starter when the fry are upto a week old. Then you move them up to baby brine shrimp or carry on with the betta starter. The benefits of live food is that they have to work to get it which helps build up their muscles etc......
You not gonna be ready for a while yet though, but we may have some microworm culture when you need it.

Ours are fed on Attisons Betta pro and Hikari betta gold pellets. Also once a week they have frozen blood worm. When we are conditioning they only get the betta pro and bloodworm.
