Hi there, i'm wondering if anyone can give me a sort of list of tankmates that would go fine with a Betta? :)
I've heard that Dwarf Gourami are a big no, which is a shame as i have one! :p
Thanks :)

anything big and shiny or like guppies (long fins) are a no there i'm afraid as the betta will attack them. i would go for something like a few neon tetras or cardinals and maybe some dwarf corydoras with a HOB filter

I'd keep him in a tank of his own. IME they prefer this.

Tank size plays a big part in acceptable tankmates, as does the Betta itself.

What size tank do you have? do you already own the Betta?

I have a very relaxed betta with 5 fire tetra, they like each other fine.

But i did have a nasty one so i sent him back.

It all realy just depends on your betta

I plan to keep my african dwarf frogs with a Betta when i finally get the new tank-it will be a 64L planted tank so plenty big enough. From my researching some male Bettas just do not get on with any tankmates, but most seem to be ok with peaceful non colourful tankmates. The ones i have seen mentioned time after time as Betta tank mates are ADFs and corys, but as lilfishie says it really all depends on the size of tank you have.

Okay, in a while i think i'll get a 10 or 12g to keep one in by itself, as at the minute i just have a 22 gallon community tank :) thanks all!
