Hi all,

I am new to this hobby and has jost been given a 25l/5.5 Gallon tank that has nerly finished cycling and is looking like i can add some fish soon. I am pretty set on getting a male betta but would also like to add a couple tank mates, i have been loking at some Pygmy Corydoras but im not sure if there will be enough space. what do people have/ recomend any tanks mates that work in a tank the size of mine. thank you for any replies :)

as some side notes it is a planted tank that has some anubias plants that are doing well.

Congratulations on your new fish tank! I would probably recommend just sticking to the betta to start with. 5 gallons is a pretty small volume, and I'm sure you will be surprised once you have your plants and betta in there at how compact it really is! If you want, some shrimp may make good tank mates for your betta, depending on his personality.

I agree that a betta and possibly a snail is all you can do in that size tank. Not only the size but a betta needs water temps of around 80F. Cories need cooler water around 73F.

Some bettas are OK with shrimps but others will eat them. The only way to find out which you have is to try them and see.
