Betta Splendens Natural Habitat

There are so many different opinions about the ideal conditions for our beloved bettas. I suggest this post be limited to journal/serial articles dealing with the natural habitat of betta splendens. This might give our readers more than just opinion.

Here is mine:

bearing in mind this is a wild betta splenden you're talking about yes? all our fancy ones wouldn't last 5 minutes in the wild heh.

Good point, but I wonder how much commercial breeding has altered their state of mind.
