Hi all....you too Modaz (see, we do come on here time to time ;) )

Ok, having inherited some shrimp (amano's) for my community tank I have sort of be drawn to these critters. :/

I am now wondering about some for ole RedBulls tank :D

He is Ok with the 6 or 8 (can't remember now) pigmy corys and the recently added 2 'ottos. Now I am looking to push my luck further with some shrimp :hey:

If this sounds sort of ok then which shrimp and how many (spec. in sig.)

One pf my ebttas bit all the shrimp in his tank in half :S He didn't want to eat them, he is just pure evil :p

Guess he prefers solitude  My RedBull enjoys a bit of a chase but doesn't make contact with his cell-mates (Corys & Ottos)

Anybody else??

from what i know of, even a good betta may try having a taste of a little shrimp
if he's good with the pygmy corys, and the ottos, there's a good chance he'll have no problem, but i found that some betta just either like to terrorize or even eat the shrimp, no matter how friendly... but you could just putting one shrimp in there for now, and then if he makes it the day without issue, add the others and let them have fun !

My crabby Crowntail had some sold-as-Ghost shrimp (FAR too aggressive, though) in his tank for a while and actually pretty much ignored them, apart from one ramming incident early on, when one was swimming about the tank.
I gradually lost them one at a time, apparently during shedding, as the bodies were invariably limp and naked and only visible in the 'bushes' when another shrimp started eating them or a careful search was conducted, although the other shrimp, not the Betta, were the only ones ever seen dining in the bodies, and there was no evidence of any biting attack or even particular notice by him.
I'd actually forgotten about that - he seems pretty good with snails, too.
I should quit maligning him with the 'crabby' epithet.
He only flared a lot in the beginning, when he was first able to swim but not so strongly as now.
Your Redbull might be fine with Amano-sized shrimp, although I've probably jinxed it now...
Fascinating and beautiful critters, aren't they?

So, is that a yes or a no then

I may risk a fiver and try a couple of Amano' :X s

My old Betta killed the cherry shrimp i tried to keep with him but was fine with Amano shrimp.

I wouldn't try anything smaller than Amano though (basically all other dwarf shrimp are too small  )
