My veiltail, Skye, seems to have lost his appetite. I have had him for about a month, and he has always been fine up until now. I feed him TetraBetta flakes once a day - and just recently has been having one, then another but spitting the second one out. He won't have any more after this. He lives in a filtered, heated 5gallon tank with an apple snail and two ghost shrimp.

All tank parameters etc are fine... Would it be worth trying to find some frozen bloodworm? Do they sell it in Pets at Home? Thanks!

Here he is being grumpy.

Yes Pets at home sell it; 3 packets for £10 at mine I believe.

You can always soak the worms in garlic juice to get him intersted more (mine can't refuse a nice juicy blood worm) :)

maybe you should try him on some pellets, i had one male that ate flake for about 3 weeks then wouldn't touch it, brought some pellet food and he loved them :good:

They adore live baby brine shrimp if you can get hold of any (don't pour the whole lot in, though - just a few and the rest can be kept in the fridge for a day or two (yes, they will still be alive)). Oh and don't pour the water from the sealed packet in your tank as it could contaminate your water. Not sure how others feed theirs but I use a small tank net to tip a few of the brine shrimp into, and rinse them off in clean water (or a small cup of tank water) then quickly put the net in the tank and swish the brine shrimp free. Then see your Betta come to life as he darts to catch them!

If you can't get those, frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms go down a treat - but remember to give them a tiny bit of squashed pea once a week or so, to aid their digestion in case they get constipated.

Thanks for the advice - I will try to get some different stuff today or tomorrow to give him a bit of variety :)
