hey there,
I recently came upon a betta(wedding centerpiece)and gave it to
my 6 year old-but I want to give the fish a healthy life, but I dont know
much about caring for them.I myself have a saltwater tank-so I know
once I get the basics he'll be good to go.he's currently in a 2 gal.betta
bowl.with gravel-I have been changing 50%every week-and feed him
kent betta bites(also treat water with kent chlorine remover).I heard he
should be housed with a live plant-is this true?do they need plants
in the tank to thrive?and is the bowl too small?
thanks for any pointers.

It looks like you're doing well!

Bettas don't require the extra things like plants and bigger space, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't enjoy them. It's really up to you to decide what kind of home to provide for your betta.

WHOA! if all new betta owners were just like you  . You are doing everything fine. Maybe, buying him a little plant would be cool, but not needed. Also, buy him some treats like bloodworms and he will be one happy little betta. Hope you have fun with your new betta. You are doing very good, keep it up ;)

thanks guys,I'll probably get the bloodworms today.
and I think I will get a plant,and possibly,if the little one
behaves(my daughter,not the fish,lol)a bigger tank.
