Hello,
I live in the colder state of Australia.. Victoria.
I have had bettas for a year in which one died but I still have the other one.
He is pink and very cute lol
Anyway
I currently have him in a bowel brought from a pet shop which I now realise is not a good thing
What type of tank do I need for my single betta? And do I need a heating lamp? If so how much would this all cost.
I have the following chemicals
Splendid Betta complete water conditioner
Splendid better BettaFix antibacterial remedy
Stress Zyme

I dont no what these chemicals do or how much to use so I am concerned about my bettas well being

I am currently feeding him Pro balance freeze dried nutritional treat (blood worms)
any good?

If there is anything wrong with my food or anything please tell me as I will gladley change it!

i cant speak for the chemicles as i dont use them but the tank must be 1 gallon minimum but i and everybody else prefere to have a 2.5+ tank oh and welcome to the forum :hi:

Pretty much anything that is at least 2 gallons is preffered, and since they are air breathers the more surface area the better. that being said, I would just recomend going for your standard 2 1/2 gallon tank... here in america they run from 8-10 USA$ so not sure what that would be price wise for you. Reason I recomend a tank instead of like, tupperware or something, is most mini filters I've found need to either hang off the back or suction to the side, and if the tank side isn't smooth and straight, it won't suction / work right. The temperature needs to stay between 72 to 80 degrees farenheit and if you can find a 25 watt heater WITH BUILD IN Temperature Controller, go for it... I personally do not like the heaters that do not have a built in 'dial' for setting it at the temperature you like, sinply because I worry about it getting too hot or cold if I forget to look at it every hour. ^_^ for my smaller tanks i have a incadescant light fixture above/to the side of the tanks, and it works for those tanks I have that I can't add a heater to.

All of your chemicals should come with instructions...

Splendid Betta complete water conditioner - I'm thinking this is used to make tap water safe for a fish tank.
Splendid better BettaFix antibacterial remedy - save this for if your fish gets sick with a bacterial infection.
Stress Zyme - often used partially as a water conditioner and partially as a stress reducer, I know the kind I get has Alo Vera in it. It's supposed to help the fish with their slime coating.

in terms of food, they need more than just freeze dried bloodworms.
a pellet food and some frozen food would be good to alternate with
i have 1 starve day and 1 pea day a week for my bettas too, gotta keep them regular and un-bloated!
theres not much nutrition in freeze dried foods at all.

the best Betta tank i've found so far is 7 gallons, the boys LOVE all the space to themselves.
they're made by Aqua One, I don't know if you can find them in Australia or not though.
