I picked up my pair of Betta Persephone today :hyper: They are stunning fish!! I'm so excited to actually own them.

The tank isn't finished yet that's why you can see some plants floating around. I bought them today as well and don't want to mess about in the tank for a couple of days.

I couldn't get any pictures of the female as she was hiding more than the male.

So here are the pics :D

I'm surprised no one has commented on these guys yet, they are beautiful! Your tank is really nice too

That's probably my favourite betta species so I must say congrats on the purchase and compliment you on the tank as well. I know you say the tank's not finished - and I can see all the plants floating around - but it looks like it's well on its way to becoming quite lovely. What other fish are you keeping in there? I'm sure the bettas will be happy.

Lovely Bettas, they look like they've been put on the stretching rack
Never seen that type before but really nice.

:hyper:  That's gotta be the perfect tank for those two perfect persephones! They're gorgeous man :D

Nice tank but don't you think that's a little to many plants it looks kinda tacky and over crowded.

Ooooh, Elisabeth! He is gorgeous! Congrats!

I think the tank is well on it's way to becoming lovely! Can't wait to see it when it's finished. :D

*MAM calculates cost of flying to sweden to steal persephone.........*

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, I'm drooling and just green with envy. I've been looking at getting my hands on a pair for some time now. What are you keeping them at pH-wise?

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments :) The tank still needs some work but I'd rather it look like that now than spend 30 mins messing about stressing out the persephones. My fish are my first priority

MAM - I'm using a lot of wood as well as some oak leaves to lower the ph. I'm not quite sure how low it'll take it down but I'm hoping at least 6.5-7.0. I know they prefer lower ph but the guy I got them from said they would be able to tolerate higher ph. Still though I'm trying my best to bring the ph down.

sylvia - I've just got the Betta persephones in the tank. So far my plans are just to keep it a species only tank with the hopes of them breeding. The guy I got them from has almost every live food you can think of so I'm planning on buying some stuff from him and starting up a few cultures myself with foods small enough for the fry to eat. If I decide to add something I'm still not sure what. Certainly something small enough not to take too much attention away from the betta persephones. I had the plans to get some bararas maculatus but then I thought I'd like to set up a small tank with Darios Darios with the bararas maculatus instead. For non-fish ideas I've already got snails in the tank and was possibly thinking of adding some smaller shrimps or maybe a couple ADF's to liven it up a bit.

That's because only a certain lucky few come in this board. I can't believe I almost missed them!!!!!!.......!

Beautiful fish, Elisabeth. Absolutely stunning.

I was hoping you'd find this post wuv :D

I've re-aquascaped the tank now and I think it looks a lot better. The plants still need to grow in a bit so it looks a little empty. I'm hoping the small amazon swords will grow up and out. I think the vallis lays nicely on the surface and I've tied down all the java moss onto the pieces of wood. Hopefully the java moss will grow and fill in places.

I had to photoshop this picture a bit to lighten it. I don't like using flash because of the black backgroud it reflects weird as well as whenever I use flash the colors are always off. So without using flash sometimes pictures come out a bit dark.

Anyways here is the tank now
