Hi there,
I have 3 betta tanks, 2 aorund 1 gal ones and 1 10 litre. VInk,who is in the 1 gal is perfect :hyper: He flares,is active, eats well and makes massive bubblnests, the whole lenght of the tank. Valentine, who used to be in a 1 gal was active, but i swapped him round with FLik and he seems fine, but when Flik was in there,he didnt do anything. He hardly flared and never made a bubblenest. Valentine is okay in that tank, but isnt active as he was in the smaller tank.
I find this real weird as youd think theyd be more happy in bigger tanks but mine arent. Ill see how they get on in their new homes but i dunno where to keep them. I like my CT boys better than my SD Flik(doesnt mean i dont like him though ) so ive got some thinking about.
Just thought id ask about when Flik was in the 10 litre,he didnt seem happy at all just lying on the bottom. Do you know why he wasnt happy?

Some bettas actually do seem less happy in a bigger tank, did he have lots of plants and hiding places? What were your water stats like? Filtered? Heated?

that is a weird coincidence because i was just talking to my boyfriend about that a few weeks ago and I have two bettas and one is in a 5 gallon tank and the other is in the thirty my betta in the thirty gallon seemed really lonely and didn't like being in the aquarium with all the other fish but i think it just takes some getting used to because he seems better now.

FLik,the one who was in the bigget tank, had a filter and heater and Vink and Valenitne have none. He even had some mates, and ADF and a fire bellied newt. Valentine, who i moved into the bigger tank, seems fien. FLik,who wasnt happy, isnt even that happy in his new home. maybe hes a grumpy betta... :shifty:
TAhnks for the replies. I might swap them back to how they originally were later on

when i first put my betta into my 10 gallon he seemed very scared :hyper: he hid by the heater allllll day! but now that he'd gotten used to it after a couple of days he seems VERY happy and swims everywhere, and surprisingly fast. i have real plants in my tank and he loves swimming through those. so i'm thinking your bettas just need time to adjust.
